Expanding Access to Quality Learning Materials for Every Student

Iowa AEAs provide schools and districts with access to comprehensive media and lending library supports that meet the diverse needs of all learners. High-quality instructional materials and digital resources—such as ebooks, audiobooks, streaming videos and tools like BookFLIX and PebbleGo—offer flexible, engaging options for classroom learning.

These resources support students with IEPs, English Learners, Gifted and Talented students and at-risk learners, ensuring every student can access materials tailored to their goals and learning styles. Accessibility tools, adaptive devices, captioned media and modified texts further promote equitable access for all.

Materials can be requested online, through consultation with AEA library staff, or delivered directly to schools via the AEA van delivery service, providing timely and cost-efficient access to instructional and specialized resources.

Strengthening School Libraries

Beyond materials and lending support, Iowa AEAs partner with districts to build and sustain strong school library programs that advance student learning. AEA consultants help schools:

  • Conduct needs assessments
  • Align library programs with district initiatives
  • Develop professional learning and collection development plans
  • Review budgets and policies
  • Implement standards-based practices for physical and virtual library spaces

These services help districts make data-driven decisions, strengthen digital and information literacy, and foster student-centered, innovative learning environments.

Through these comprehensive supports, Iowa AEAs help educators create vibrant, inclusive library programs that enrich teaching and learning across PK–12 settings.
